Detailed description of the armchair

Ergonomics Assessment and Standards

The Ergo Takumi ergonomic chair fully meets the requirements and complies
with the Regulation of the Minister of Family and Social Policy of October 18,
2023, amending the regulation on occupational health and safety at
workstations equipped with display screens.

The Ergo Takumi swivel chair is equipped with a gas spring and a backrest connected to the seat by a synchronous mechanism. In combination with the ability to adjust the height of the seat and backrest, the angle of inclination of the backrest, and the appropriately contoured seat and backrest, it ensures full adaptation of seating conditions to the individual needs of the user.

Additionally, adjustable armrests, headrest, and lumbar support, as well as the mechanisms used, enable dynamic and ergonomic seating, as well as assuming a reclined, comfortable, and ergonomic body position, promoting relaxation and maintaining correct posture.

The Ergo Takumi ergonomic chair meets the following standards and has a Certificate of Conformity for them:
PN-EN 1022:2024-04
PN-EN 1335-1+A1:2023-04
PN-EN 1335-2:2019-03

The chair has a load capacity for Users weighing up to 110 kg.

Headrest

The headrest of the Ergo Takumi chair has an ergonomically contoured shape. It is made of antibacterial TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) in light grey. Its width is 255 mm and its height is 110 mm.

Height adjustment is within a range of 85 mm, controlled by a double polished aluminium handle located at the back. The adjustment mechanism is aesthetically hidden within the backrest – the headrest slides in from the top into the central part of the backrest.

The design provides multidimensional, comfortable head support, ensuring maximum user comfort.

Backrest

The chair backrest has been designed with durability, ergonomics, and precise user adaptation in mind. It is made of durable, resistant, yet flexible upholstery, mounted on a polypropylene frame with 30% fiberglass added, ensuring high structural stability and even load distribution.

Underneath the upholstery of the Ergo Takumi chair's backrest, additional full-surface back support is provided in the form of a contoured, biomimetic structure with an ergonomic, mesh, woven shape. This element is made of light grey antibacterial TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), which enhances hygiene of use and improves the functional qualities of the backrest.

The upper part of the backrest is upholstered to a height of 135 mm, the sides to a width of 60 mm, and the lower part to a height of 40 mm. The entire structure is set within a frame that forms a characteristic 'window', through which the thermoplastic elastomer structure is visible, emphasizing the product's technological character.
The backrest width is 420 mm, widening to 475 mm at the bottom, and its height is 565 mm. The height adjustment – along with the contoured lumbar section – is performed using 4 detents over a range of 45 mm, allowing precise adaptation to the user's height and body build. The backrest tilt angle is adjustable in 6 positions from 85° to 125°.

The back of the chair's backrest is mounted on a durable polished aluminum structure. The screws attaching the backrest to the height adjustment mechanism and the lumbar part are aesthetically concealed under a plastic cover. The structural element consists of two polished aluminum arms, diverging downwards and connecting under the seat with the mechanism components and armrests, ensuring the integrity and rigidity of the entire structure.

The chair's backrest structure has the function of following the natural movement of the user's back during left and right leans, providing dynamic, multi-planar support and high working comfort.

The possibility of adjusting the backrest height allows it to be adapted to the user's height, providing proper support for the entire spine. The tilt adjustment allows changing position during work, which improves circulation and reduces muscle fatigue.

Seat

In Ergo Takumi - the seat is made of high-quality cast polyurethane foam using high-temperature molding technology. The foam used, with a density of 55 kg/m³, has a thickness of 57.5 mm. The polyurethane foaming process in molds ensures a uniform, compact structure without empty spaces, which translates into high durability, resistance to deformation, and long-term retention of performance parameters. The foam does not require the use of glue or formaldehyde, making it safe for health and environmentally friendly.

The front edge of the seat has been ergonomically rounded, which reduces pressure on the thigh muscles and limits the risk of lower limb numbness when maintaining a forward-leaning position, e.g., during handwriting. The entire seat is covered with durable and wear-resistant upholstery.  The underside of the seat is a cover made of polypropylene with an addition of 25% fiberglass, 3.1 mm thick, which effectively prevents deformation and strengthens the structure.

The seat width is 490 mm, and the depth is 500 mm. Seat height adjustment is performed using the first aluminum handle (dim. 73x23 mm), located under the seat on the left side. This adjustment allows you to place your feet stably on the floor, while maintaining an angle of approximately 90° at the knees. This is the basis of an ergonomic position that supports proper circulation and reduces strain on the lower back. It also prevents nerve compression, muscle tension, and numbness in the legs and buttocks.

Depth adjustment is available in the range of 40 mm in the Ergo Takumi model. The mechanism is operated by a handle (dim. 45x15 mm), made of polyamide with an addition of 30% fiberglass, located under the seat on the right side of the seated person, which allows for intuitive and ergonomic adjustment to the user. This adjustment allows the chair to be adapted to the user's thigh length. The appropriate distance between the seat edge and the knees prevents pressure on blood vessels and improves sitting comfort.

Additionally, the seat offers the possibility of forward tilt adjustment within a range of 3°, supporting a more dynamic, active sitting position.

Mechanism

The mechanism was designed with maximum ergonomics and ease of use in mind. The second handle (dimensions 73x23 mm), made of polished aluminium and placed on the user's left side, adjusts the backrest tilt. This solution allows for easy adjustment of the backrest tilt angle without having to lean forward.

The synchronous mechanism with 6 locking positions has a backrest tilt angle ranging from 85°–125°. The synchronous mechanism allows for simultaneous tilting of the backrest and seat in appropriate proportions. This ensures the body remains in an ergonomic position even when changing positions, increasing comfort and relieving spinal pressure.

The tilt angle lock allows the backrest to be stopped in the chosen position. This is particularly important when working on tasks requiring concentration, as a stable and repeatable body position increases the precision of tasks performed. The correct setting improves body weight distribution, increases comfort, and supports ergonomic pelvic alignment.

The ability to set a negative angle allows for a slight forward tilt of the backrest or seat. This position supports active sitting, promotes an upright posture, and reduces strain on the lumbar spine when working at a desk. Lifting the handle to the first position activates the backrest tilt adjustment within the range specified above. Lifting it higher – to the second, clearly palpable degree (indicated by a characteristic click of the detent) – activates the function of a slight forward tilt of the entire backrest and seat system, supporting a more active, ergonomic sitting position. Returning to the standard setting occurs by lowering the handle one degree, which restores the backrest and seat to their initial position. Fully lowering the handle locks the mechanism, allowing the backrest to be stably locked in the chosen setting.

The backrest tilt force, adjustable to the user's weight, is controlled by a knob located under the seat on the right side. This is an extremely important adjustment, as too strong a backrest tilt force setting for light individuals (approx. 45 kg) causes leg muscle tension and nerve compression leading to pain. In contrast, heavier individuals (approx. 90-120 kg) require a stronger tilt force, as too weak a setting will cause an unexpected maximum backward tilt and excessive tension in the front of the legs. The resistance force adjustment allows the pressure needed to tilt the backrest to be matched to the user's weight and preferences. This ensures smooth and controlled movement, and the backrest provides stable support without the effect of a sudden tilt for heavier individuals or excessive resistance for lighter individuals.

The anti-shock mechanism protects the user from a sudden return of the backrest after releasing the lock. This prevents the backrest from hitting the back, and position changes are smooth and safe, increasing comfort and caring for the spine. To unlock the mechanism again and set the backrest in the desired position, lean back on the backrest and gently push it backward – this allows you to re-adjust the tilt angle to your needs.

Armrests

The chair has 3D armrests made of polyamide with 30% fiberglass and polyurethane. The pad length is 250 mm and the width is 90 mm, tapering to 80 mm at the back. The armrests are adjustable in the following planes:

- Up-down adjustment in 7 positions within a 70 mm range

- Front-back adjustment in 6 positions within a 60 mm range

- Left-right adjustment within a 35° range.

The multi-plane adjustment of the armrests allows for proper forearm positioning and shoulder relief. Correct adjustment reduces neck tension and the risk of wrist ailments.

Gas spring

The gas lift is Class 4 and offers a 100mm extension range. The lift's housing is made of steel, which allows for an even load transfer of up to 200 kg, ensuring the structure's stability and reliability. The internal core is filled with compressed nitrogen with 99.7% purity, guaranteeing smooth and precise seat height adjustment while maintaining maximum safety of use.

The total chair height adjustment, including seat, backrest, and headrest adjustments, ranges from 1130–1360 mm, allowing for precise customization of the chair to the user's height and preferred sitting position.

Basis

The chair's base is crafted from a durable 350# polished aluminum alloy, combining high aesthetics with exceptional durability. The structure supports a maximum static load of up to 1136 kg, ensuring stability and safety during use.

The base itself has a diameter of 640 mm, and with the casters installed, it reaches 700 mm, guaranteeing solid and comfortable support for the chair in all working conditions.

The ability to freely rotate 360° increases mobility at the workstation and reduces the need to twist the torso. This minimizes the risk of spinal strain and improves the ergonomics of daily movements.

Wheels

The chair's castors are made of durable nylon and have a diameter of 60 mm. They provide silent 360° rotation, allowing for smooth and comfortable movement of the chair in any direction, while minimizing noise during use.

Upholstery fabrics

Both the mesh and the fabric are designed for use in office buildings and public facilities with high resistance to abrasion, light and fire.
